Próxima Parada with the SLO Symphony

Performing to a sold-out crowd at the Performing Arts Center San Luis Obispo, the San Luis Obispo Symphony and Próxima Parada delivered an unforgettable evening of music, energy, and SLO County community excitement, on Thursday, May 22, 2026. This long envisioned collaboration brought together the Symphony’s rich orchestral sound with Próxima Parada’s signature soulful style, creating a concert experience that felt both fresh and deeply meaningful. The energy inside the hall was epic from the moment the performance began, with enthusiastic applause, and a palpable sense of connection between the musicians and audience. For many in attendance, it was their very first time experiencing a Symphony concert, while others were discovering Próxima Parada for the first time — a perfect reflection of the power of collaboration to bring new audiences together through music

Under the direction of conductor Chris Woodruff, 21 Symphony musicians performed alongside Próxima Parada, combining orchestral arrangements with the band’s sound in a way that felt natural and engaging. The performance highlighted the versatility of the Symphony musicians and reflected the organization’s ongoing commitment to creative collaboration and connecting with new audiences. “It was a unique experience in the Symphony’s 30-year history at the PAC”, expressed Rachel Salbalboro, Executive Director for the SLO Symphony.
